Edinburgh based tech company – FanDuel, who have developed a leading fantasy sports platform with over 1 million North American subscribers, recently gained a one billion dollar valuation after their latest investment round.
FanDuel, joins Edinburgh based Skyscanner who are also members of the exclusive “unicorn” club – for companies with a valuation north of $1 billion.
FanDuel started as a brainstorm between the company’s five founders to change the game in fantasy sports and is now the driving force in a multibillion-dollar industry. Founders, Nigel Eccles and Tom Griffiths have been named to Silicon Alley’s 100 and the company won the Techcrunch Best Sports and Entertainment Award.
Edinburgh is becoming a hotbed for digital start-ups, and is home to Codebase, the largest technology incubator in the UK and one of the latest growing in Europe.
