John Byrne, who was born in Paisley, is one of Scotland’s most versatile and accomplished artists and writers. Sitting Ducks will explore and celebrate his highly innovative and richly varied portraiture. It will include a rich and varied selection of drawings, paintings and multi-media works from across his career, which depict friends and family as well as famous sitters, such as Tilda Swinton his former lover and Billy Connolly. Byrne has also produced many insightful and witty self-portraits which will form a strong element of the show.
His talent as a playwright has produced acclaimed works such as Writers Cramp, The Slab Boyssubsequently producing for television Tutti Frutti and Your Cheatin’ Heart.
